The purpose of prayer is to nurture a relationship with God.

Pray from your heart.

Introduction

1

My heavenly Father, my spirit seeks to be with You. You are the Keeper of my soul. Your love towards me endures forever. Never let me forget. Amen.

2

Blessed Father in heaven, if Your eye is on the sparrow, Your eye is certainly on me. So much You care for me. Why do I lament my tribulations when You are so near to me? When I contemplate the glory and vastness of Your compassion, love, mercy, and grace, all my woes and pains dissolve into nothingness. All that I experience in life has meaning now because You have captured my heart, and it belongs to You. Give me strength to persevere while I live out my days in this dark world. Keep the light of Jesus Christ shining brightly in me, that it may be a source of blessing to others. For He alone is my Savior, Lord, and God. Only through His faithfulness, life, and obedience, do I know You. You are my Father who watches over me. I am eternally safe in Your hands. Amen.

3

All praise, honor, and glory be for You my holy Father. You know me and Your Spirit searches my heart. Nothing in all of creation is hidden from You. Search my heart and reveal to me my hidden faults. Convict me of my sins, which I am unaware of. Surely, I hold onto sinful attitudes that I do not recognize. How many times in a day do I respond selfishly when I face an obstacle to my wants? Am I crushed in spirit when I make mistakes? Does that injure my pride? Do I refuse to accept my Adamic nature, that I am by birth a sinner? Am I envious by what others have or do? Do these wrongs escape my self-examination? Do I think too highly of myself to even want to self-examine? Help me to have a pure heart. Convict me of my faults, for my heart wants to belong to You. Make me to be like my Savior. For He alone is holy and worthy. I want to be like Him, that I may be pleasing to You. Amen.

4

Father God, take my heart and make me what You want me to be. Show me the way that I may know You more. I never feel like I have enough of You. I long to hear You speak to my heart. Your voice is filled with compassion, healing, and love. Help me to contend with the distractions of daily living. Be with me in all that confronts me and all that I do today. Fill me with the joy and peace that comes from my faith in Jesus Christ. I will praise Him forever. I will declare the power of His death and resurrection to those You bring before me. Make me a light in this world that brings people to Him. Amen.

5

Holy Father, grow my faith. Make me to have faith as large and resolute as Abraham’s and the apostle Paul’s. I value the faith You have given me. With my faith none of the distresses of life can rob me of the joy and peace that comes from knowing Jesus Christ. My flesh with its cravings to go astray from You cannot take victory over my life. You care too much about me to let that happen. I am committed to following Christ, but the road ahead of me is not always smooth. I have learned from You, that the way of righteousness is made smooth by faithfully coming to You in prayer. The more I know You the greater my faith becomes. I believe that it makes good sense to want more of You, because from You, life is made better in every way! So, Father, I ask, grow my faith, even this day. Amen.

6

Holy Father, I trust that You care about me and love me; and that whatever my circumstance may be that You will provide what is right for me, as well as guide my responses. Please do not allow dark clouds in my heart to cause my faith to falter this day. Nothing is more troubling to me than to be separated from You. Make me to walk before You in righteousness. Keep me steadfast in Your peace. For You are righteous in all Your ways and Your faithfulness toward me abides forever. Amen.

7

Holy Father, as I start my day today, give me clarity of mind, so that there is no haze of confusion in me about my journey today. Re-energize me in body, mind, and spirit, that I may have strength to walk in the footsteps of my Savior. Make me to see clearly the boundaries around me that keep me on the right path. Guide me in the way You want me to go. Make me to enjoy the walk, for the One I follow is glorious, holy, and faithful. Refresh and inspire me as I follow Him. And at all times keep me aware that I am Your child, called to be obedient to my faith, the precious faith, which comes from Jesus Christ. Amen.

8

Lord Jesus, How great is Your love for me? How great is it for the world? You came into the world knowing that you would suffer, that You would be persecuted, rejected, and assassinated. Despite knowing how the world would treat You, You came into it anyway. Why did You do that? Did you have me in mind? Is that why You came? You were willing to leave Your glory and peace in heaven for me. You were willing to suffer all that you did and ultimately die for me. You would have been righteous to let me suffer eternal damnation for my sins. But You came to save me, a wretch, with an indictment of sins that convicted me of perdition. It is only by Your grace that You came to save me, and not just me, but for all who believe in You. O Lord, there is no greater love than Your love! Your love brought You into the world and to the cross, so that You would do for me what I could not do for myself! Thank you for coming, and thank You for taking my sins and punishment onto Yourself when You died on the cross. You were innocent, I am guilty. All my shortcomings and suffering are extinguished by my knowledge of what You did for me. You are the King of my heart. You are my Savior and You are my God. I will follow and obey You forever. Amen.

9

Good morning holy Father. This is the day You have made, I will rejoice and be glad in it, because my Savior lives. Keep me close to Him, and make me to walk faithfully following Him today and forever. Amen.

10

Father God, impress upon me the blessedness of coming to You in prayer every morning no matter what spiritual condition my soul is in. For You are waiting to encourage and re-energize me afresh each morning. You are passionately willing to cleanse me from yesterday's faults. All this You desire, so that I may continue to walk in Your sight with confidence that my life is hidden with Christ in You. Make me today what You will me to be. Amen.

11

Father God, You are good. You are compassionate, and You care about me. Never let me forget Your goodness and how much You love me. Keep this thought in my immediate consciousness, and make it work in every part of my being continually throughout this day. You know my frailties and weaknesses. You know that my heart is Yours, because I trust You, need You, and want You. Truly my flesh is weak, yet in Christ my spirit is alive and willing to be obedient to You and to follow Him. No matter what condition my soul is in, I need never fear coming to You. For You are ever gentle with me, to restore me to Yourself. You care for me because You understand my spiritual infirmities and You desire to heal them all. Even when I stumble and fall You want me to return to You quickly. When I come to You, You heal my soul. Because I am weak, You have sent Jesus into the world to be my Savior. Your compassion and mercy toward me are great and nothing in the world can stop Your will! I do not deserve Your loving attention and kindness, still You give them to me. All I have to give to You, Father, is my heart. I have nothing else. I come to You as I am, broken and needy. I know I am kept by Your grace, for which I am eternally grateful. I pray, make me to be like Jesus Christ. I want to follow Him faithfully. In Him I am the person You desire me to be. Fill me with His strength. Lead me into a deeper intimacy with Him, that I may live my life pleasingly in Your sight. In Him only shall my life produce the fruit for Your Kingdom, which You so desire. He is glorious, He is my Lord, He is my life. Amen.

12

Lord God, guide my heart in answering these two questions. What am I? What does God want me to be? Make me to ponder them often, especially when I face temptation. O Father, help me to be all that You want me to be. My soul longs to live pleasingly before You, now and forever, Amen.

13

Holy Father, “no one calls on your name or strives to lay hold of You; for You have hidden Your face from us and have given us over to our sins (Isaiah 64:7).” This lament was made by Your prophet concerning Israel, but it also speaks to my condition today as well. In these holy words I see my life’s experience. I see the days when I did not call upon Your name. I certainly did not strive to lay hold of You. Oh yes, Father, because of sin, You have hidden Your face from me and from everyone born into this broken world. We are all made to wonder, bewildered by our existence. We selfishly strive to soothe away what each of us knows will happen— that we all die. I was held captive by the fruitless imaginations of my own heart. I held tightly to my captivity to sin. I was intoxicated by it, enslaved to it. I was rebellious against You. As the prophet said, “You have given us over to our sins.” All of this was my condition. But You have broken the chains of this bondage which held me captive. Through the Gospel, You showed me the truth. And so, You have changed me. You have cleansed me from my sins by the precious blood of Jesus Christ. Now my desire is to call upon Your name every day. Now I walk in the newness of the life the Holy Spirit has put in me. I “strive to lay hold of You” every day. Yet, You keep Your face hidden from the world; but to all those who believe in Your Son, Jesus Christ, You put the light of truth and life in their hearts. I am one of those. I praise You Father for Your mercy and grace toward me. I know that as long as my soul and spirit are still in this body, that life will buffet me through the deceitfulness of the world, the devil, and my flesh. Keep me safe from them Father, most of all from myself. My heart belongs to You. My desire is to live my life pleasingly to You. For apart from You and my Savior I am lost. Yet, in Christ I am safe and I am one with You, now and forever. Hallelujah, amen.

14

Why Father do You allow people to be born into this life where they must contend with tribulations and their own sin nature? If Adam and Eve's sin so horribly damaged them, why do you allow their children to come into this world? Each one enters life broken, and having to face suffering. You must have a reason. Is it not that You are glorified in those You make in Your likeness and image? To persevere the travail of this life having faith in You, most certainly brings glory to You. Help me each day to know and to trust You more as I live out the days of my life. I believe the full answer to my questions are found in Your Son, Jesus Christ, and none other. While the full meaning of the experience of life evades me, Jesus Christ makes certain Your love. My soul finds its rest in Him. He is the eternal answer. He is the light and hope of the world. In Him I trust You. Amen.

15

Blessed Father, this is the day You have made for me. As I live in it keep me close to You and not to wander away. If my heart becomes anxious make it quiet again. Keep my mind focused on following my Savior all the day long. Make me ready and eager to love others as He loves me. May all that I do, say, and think this day bless You. And at the end of this day hear my thankful heart praise You. Your love and faithfulness abide with me forever. Amen.

16

Father God, my mind is like a wild horse in need of being tamed. Cause me to think the way You want me to think. Make my mind like the mind of Christ. Then I shall never wander away from You. Amen.

17

Lord, You are my light and salvation. You are the strength of my life. My soul and my heart cannot live without You. Enduring joy and peace come to me only through You. It is a joy and peace not felt in the flesh; it occurs within my spirit. Please be close to me today, and heal all my faults. Amen.

18

Holy Father, keep me away from temptations this day, and stop me from giving in to them when they arise in me. Shield me by Your mighty power from my own sinful tendencies, and motivate and strengthen my self-control, that I may live by Your Holy Spirit, pleasing You with my life, and bringing glory to my Savior, Jesus Christ. Your mighty power is what You have put in me, which is my unquenchable, indestructible, and fiercely tenacious love for Jesus Christ. O my Father, I love You, You give me the words of power and hope. Amen.

19

Father God, my spirit seeks to be with You in prayer this morning. My mind is hoping that You would communicate with me in a way that would assure me that You are with me. But I think that means I am looking for a tangible experience that You actually exist, that I am looking for evidence of You. You will not give that to me. Forgive me Father, for seeking such a thing. That always is a temptation for me and I know better than to yield to it. I do it out of my spiritual lust, and poverty of faith, and my impatience. Forgive me and allow my heart to listen to Your instruction. I understand Father, while I am looking for assurance from You, You are looking for faith in me. Faith is believing in what is not seen (Hebrews 11:1). I know my faith is your treasure, and that it glorifies You. By Your grace You provide me with all I need to be assured of Your presence in my life. You give me an abundance of assurance in Your holy scriptures, and most especially in the words of the Gospel. Your assurance is also manifested in Your creation, which clearly reflects Your creative power and glory. And You have not left me to myself, for the Holy Spirit, who You put in me, encourages, and assures me. He testifies to the truth of Your existence in me. You also provide me with assurance through fellowship with others who love Jesus Christ. And finally, You assure me of Your existence when I see you working in me and around me. In this prayer, this morning, You have encouraged and assured me. I am truly thankful for Your faithfulness. For when I come to You in prayer You are forever willing to strengthen my faith. I know that You are with me today and every day. You are God who touches the hearts of His children. Amen.

20

Holy Father, I thank You for teaching me that loving You with all my soul, heart, mind, and strength, is Your mighty power which works in me to be self-controlled. Your strength in me is glorious! Why did it take me so long to learn this? Did You mean for me to experience what living apart from You is like? Now I know for certain, that the secret to life is loving You through Jesus Christ. Your mighty power, the power that comes from loving You, motivates me to please You with my life, and to be self-controlled in the face of temptations. The more I love You the less I will stumble and fall. Help me every day to love You more. Help me to put You first in all my thoughts and actions. When I live my life in harmony with Your will nothing can unsettle my heart. Amen.

21

Heavenly Father, You who sees me, You know that I am dependent on You for all things. Help me to remember when I am tempted to ask myself, “What am I?” Let me find strength in this answer, “I am a child of God. I am Your purchased possession, who You redeemed with the precious blood of Your Son, Jesus Christ.” Make me to live my life in that identity. Help me to remember also to ask, “What does my heavenly Father want me to be?” There can be only one answer, “You want me to be Your obedient child who loves You, and to walk before You in the footsteps of my Savior.” When temptation comes knocking at my door, make my identity of what I am in Christ defeat the temptation. Never let me forget what You have made me in Jesus Christ. Encourage me to live up to Your calling. For I am determined to please You and to faithfully follow my Savior. Amen.

22

Father God, make my realization of what You do for me, the peace and exceedingly great joy You put in my spirit, to overshadow and extinguish my temptations this day. Make me to crave You more than my flesh craves its wayward desires. I trust You, for Your attention to me and Your love are unfailing. Amen.

23

Lord God, this morning the Holy Spirit has me in victory mode. Having confessed my sin, my mind and strength are so determined to walk in step with Your Holy Spirit this day, and every day. When temptation comes and I stumble, Your peace in me is fractured. But today I am soaring high, like an eagle. Your scripture is a blaze in my mind and heart. Lord, I know I cannot keep myself in the heights of where the Spirit brings me without seeking You each day in prayer. I know of no other way to be intimate with You other than through prayer. Help me to pray according to Your will. Help me to be more faithful in coming to You in prayer. More than anything, prayer is what keeps me from stumbling and hitting the ground hard. Even when I fall, Your eye is on me. You watch over me because You care for me. Help me to be faithful to You, for You are Lord of my life, and my soul longs for You. By Your mercy and grace, I am Yours forever. In this my heart rejoices. Hallelujah, amen.

24

My heavenly Father, unto whom all my heart is open, all my desires are known, and from whom no secrets of mine are hidden, I pray cleanse the thoughts of my heart by the inspiration and power of Your Holy Spirit, and make me numb to the impulses of temptation, that I may not sin against You, and that I may perfectly love You, and worthily magnify Your holy name. I am thankful that You are my Father, and that I belong to You. I confess that apart from You I am lost and have nothing. Forgive me this day for everything I have done, said, or thought that was not pleasing to You. My struggle with sin makes me want You more, and to love You more. By Your will You created me to be free, but sin has robbed me of my freedom; yet by the shed blood of Your Son, my Savior, Jesus Christ, You have redeemed me to Yourself; and by His perfect obedience I am no longer a slave to sin. He has emancipated me, and made me Your child. And now I live in Your kingdom with Him. Make me an active follower of Jesus Christ, who manifested Himself on earth as both Lord and servant. I was captured by His love, and so now my life’s purpose is to know and to serve You, You who are the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent. By Your grace and in His righteousness my soul stands naked before You, without shame or guilt. You saved me by Your grace and by Your grace You keep me. Thank You for always encompassing me with Your unfailing love. Move in my heart that I should love others as You love me. Your Kingdom come; Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Hear now the meditations of my heart and prayer, which I pray in Jesus’ holy name. Amen.

25

Holy Father, hear my prayer. Prayer is the way my soul pierces through the darkness of this world and touches the center of my life, which is You! Whatever adversities and offenses I face today, I will overcome them all because my faith rests in You, my Savior. I trust You with every circumstance and horror living in this world brings me. Time and time again You have proved Yourself to be faithful. You watch over me constantly, and You have established a perfect plan for my life. As I live out my life in this world, I rejoice in my sufferings, knowing that they are a testimony to the faith You have put in me. May every fiber of my mind, body, and soul bring glory to You. Amen.

26

Holy Father, I thank You that by the inspiration of the gift of the Holy Spirit, whom Jesus Christ has put in my heart, that I know You. My heart bursts with joy in that I know You. Your nature is a force for good, and only good. You are the author and substance of love. Oh, that the world would understand and want You! You alone are holy and righteous. You are everything my soul needs. There is no life apart from you. Without You, life has no meaning. I delight to be in your presence. To see Jesus Christ in all His splendor and glory is what my heart yearns for. Help me today as I continue in my journey through this world, not to be buffeted by the trappings of this world, which so easily distract me from loving You. The prodding of the flesh and the allure of the world are the enemies that vex my soul. But You holy Father, by Your unfailing love keep me safe from all evil. You are faithful to me every day, and forever. May my life bring glory to You. Amen.

27

Lord Jesus, my faith strains to touch You, to be with You! It is frustrating for me that I cannot be physically present with You. I am envious of Your apostles. They knew You face to face. They heard Your voice. They looked into Your eyes and saw Your love and compassion. They experienced Your smile, which gave encouragement. How I wish I had all that now. I am sad because living in this dark and broken world I cannot see Your form. I long to see your Face. The sight of Your tenderness and glory remains hidden from me while I live in this world. Yet, I am happy because You touch my heart every day through the eyes of my faith. You touch me when I read from Your holy word and when I come to You in prayer. I know one day You will take me home to be with You in Your kingdom. I will see You face to face then. How glorious that will be! Until then, I love You with my patience, and I keep myself connected to You with my faith. Thank You Lord for giving me my faith. You are so precious to me. Amen.

28

This morning holy Father, as I start this new day, prepare my mind, to bring all that I think or do into perfect alignment with Your holy will. Keep me from my faults, which I am aware of, and make me aware of those which I am unaware of. Strengthen my spirit to walk pleasingly before You. For You are worthy of all my strength and attention. It is from You that I receive my purpose in life. May I be found faithful to your calling. By Your grace alone I shall be. Amen.

29

Holy Father, as I begin my quiet time now, I pray that You will guide me in studying Your holy word. Hear me also as I utter my prayers to you. Let my time with You purify my heart and soul, and change me to be more like my Savior, and cause me to know and love You more. I thank You for the gift of the Holy Spirit, who resides in my heart. I pray, let Him make Your word come alive for me as I read it, and that He would enable me to discern and understand Your truth. As I read Your word show me Jesus Christ and Your grace in all that I read. I thank You for these blessings. In everything, help me to seek You first, knowing that it is You who grows my faith. For it is You who works in me to will and to act in order to fulfill Your good purpose (Philippians 2:13). Amen.

30

Holy Father, I seek You now. I so desire to pray to You. Prayer is my lifeline to You. I cannot live without praying to You. I ask by Your mercy and grace, to please incline Your ear to my prayer and hear me. And more than that, please be present with me now and let me sense Your holy presence with me. For You are to be desired more than anything this world can offer. Speak to my heart. Teach me more about Yourself and more about Jesus Christ, my Savior. Transform me more and more, so that I am conformed to His image. Help me also to understand myself, and instruct me according to Your purpose and will (Psalm 25:14). I pray that the meditations of my heart and prayer will be pleasing to You. Keep me humble while I pray. Keep me focused, and prevent me from being distracted by my intrusive mundane thoughts. I ask this in Jesus’ holy name. Amen.

31

Father, good things do not happen on their own. They are channeled to us through Your mercy and grace (Romans 8:28). I acknowledge that every good thing comes from You (James 1:17). There are so many for me to be thankful to You for. Too many for me to even count. I feel it is not enough to thank You with words only. Let the way I treat others and the choices I make reflect my thankfulness for who You are and all You have done for me. Amen.

32

Father, I believe that no matter what happens in life I can trust You. I can come to You and tell You all about it, whatever is bothering me. I know You hear my prayers. I know that You love me and care about me. Your word and the Holy Spirit give me assurance of that. You always bring peace back into my heart. You are my refuge. You are my solace. You are the power of my life. I will cling to you forever. Amen

33

Holy Father, I acknowledge that Jesus Christ, Your Son, alone is sinless and perfect. No mortal that ever lived on this earth was without sin. Jesus alone is the Holy One, whom You sent from heaven above. He lived every step of His life here on earth in perfect obedience to You. His perfect life convicts me of my desperate need for Your mercy and grace. He called me to repentance, and for that I am eternally grateful. Now He is my Lord, and I am one of His followers. I adore and love Him. No other is as beautiful and loving as He. No other is worthy. He alone is to be desired and worshiped. My heart wants to be with Him, and to be like Him. I praise You Father for giving Him to us. He is the resurrection and life, He is the full manifestation of Your love, mercy, and grace. Let the whole world acknowledge Him as Lord of all. Amen.

34

Father God, my sin does not make You hate me or reject me. That is why You have provided the Way to restoration with You. That is why You sent Your only Son, Jesus Christ into the world to die for me. Even if it were just for me, He would have done it. That is how much You love me. With this realization why would I continue to contemplate sin? How can I do that? The battle in me rages on (Matthew 26:41, Galatians 5:16-17). Because Your love is in me, I am committed to fight the good fight (1 Timothy 6:12). And I press on to achieve the goal You have put before me (Philippians 3:12-14). Help me, therefore, holy Father to keep my focus off myself and solely fixed on Jesus Christ, He is my Lord. Amen.

35

Father, give me the heart of Jesus. I want to be like Him. Make me to be gentle and lowly in heart, like He is (Matthew 11:29). Make me to be compassionate towards others suffering hardships, and not turn away. Make me to have a burden for those who are lost. Give me confidence and boldness to proclaim the Gospel. Make me willing to forgive all those who affront me. Let all my words and thoughts bring blessings and not judgment. Use me as a conduit of Your Love. Give me the strength not to fall into temptations. Keep my mind stayed on pleasing You. Let the heart of Jesus in me be reflected in how I treat others and the choices I make. Let it be so dear Father, and let it be to Your glory! Amen.

36

Righteous Father, my sanctuary of prayer is within my heart when I seek You. I go there to be with You. I love to pray to You. I am reverent before You. When I pray, I feel close to You. I feel like I am in a quiet place alone with You. It is my spiritual home, my true home, my time alone with You. It is most precious to me. Everything is so clear and I feel free. My thoughts disconnect from the world and I only perceive You. All I want is to focus on knowing and loving You. I am fixated on You, almost in a trance. I am captured by Your presence. I listen and I hear Your voice speak to my heart. I feel the warmth of Your peace engulfing me. I feel safe and loved, and there is no fear while I am with You. Each prayer is like a gold coin that reflects Your glory and deposited into the storehouse of Your praise. My prayer, my quiet place alone with You, keeps me with You. I want to be there forever. Amen.

37

O Father God, I cannot stand living in this world without you. Being separated from You is the worst affliction I could suffer. Nothing else is worse. You brought me to Yourself by the power of the Gospel. Through it You made Yourself known. You put faith into my heart; and it has become the invisible connection I have with You. To Your glory, let my connection with You be seen in how it has changed my actions. This connection is precious, for by it I know You, and by it I experience You. Nothing is better in life than being with You. But sometimes the connection is disrupted. Whether by tribulations, doubts, or temptations; these weaken and even cause my connection with You to drop. My soul cannot tolerate separation from You. Life has no meaning without You. There is no real joy without You. All that remains is emptiness, and a want to soothe it away through selfish desires, which never satisfy, and leaves me still feeling empty. Yet, by my faith in Jesus Christ, You are the source of my healing. You are unfailing in Your love towards me, and by Your grace You re-energize my connection with You. I am grateful to You my Father God, for you are always willing to hear my contrite prayers, and requests for You to restore me. As Your prodigal child, You are ever willing to take me back when I am repentant and confess my transgressions. Your love toward me is steadfast and abundant. When I seek You in prayer for restoration, whether to confess my sins and receive Your forgiveness, or to look for renewed spiritual connection with You, You are faithful to restore me to Yourself. My faith is not always strong. Sometimes it ebbs low. I know You love me still. Therefore, I wait patiently for You. My hope will be realized, for You are mindful and compassionate to all who call on Your name. I know that while I wait for You, that You are working in me to do Your righteous will. You will not leave me to myself, nor to despair. You deliver me from all my woes. You have a purpose for me. May I be faithful to living it out. May my life bring glory to You and to Jesus Christ. Amen.

38

Father, You are God who operates with detail. All of creation is a testimony to Your penchant for detail. You are the substance of precision. With You there is no occurrence of happenchance with anything You do. All that you do is done with intention and perfect precision. You know every facet of my existence. You arrange and oversee all the details of my life. You are perfect and righteous in all You do. All Your works are framed in Your love and righteousness. And so, I trust You implicitly. I will declare Your glory. How great You are! Amen.

39

Oh Lord, whether or not I sense Your presence with me now, as I pray, does not affect my belief that I am present with You. My union with You is not by sight nor feelings, but by faith. I am always with You and Your Holy Spirit resides in me forever. Let my feelings be what they will, You are faithful to me— always. Amen.

40

Father, when I pray, You not only hear my words, You hear my heart. You hear the silent thoughts deep within me, which are hidden from me, which I cannot hear. Search them out. Listen to them, though they are silent to me, You know them full well. Examine me and know my anxious thoughts. If there is any darkness in my heart, I pray heal and correct it. I want to respond to Your will with a pure heart. My heart needs You and loves You. It sings Your praises. It desires to be with you always. Amen.

41

Oh Father, come and rescue me. Sin percolates in my flesh. It rages war against my spirit. The ambivalence inside of me is intensely painful. I vehemently hate everything my flesh desires! If it were not for the cross that my Savior died on, my soul would be doomed. There He suffered and died to save me from myself. I cling to His cross. He is the fountain of mercy, grace, and life. Hallelujah, Amen.

42

O Father God, I need Your deliverance! That which desires to drag me away is a fiction. It is empty. It robs me of Your peace. It dishonors You who loves me and redeemed me. Only by Your strength can I resist this menacing temptation. I bring all my weakness to rest in You, for without You I am defeated. Make me to win my battle! Protect and deliver me, O Father, from myself! Amen.

43

Father, You are the LORD who heals me! (Exodus 15:26) All my strength comes from You. Never let me forget. Amen.

44

Father, All of life is about You. Through Jesus Christ, You have made me aware of this. Never let me forget. Amen.

45

My righteous and holy Father, my glorious Father, You who gave me life, You who redeemed me from my bondage to disobedience, and who lavishes me with Your love, I humbly direct my heart toward You now. I seek to be with You in prayer. I make myself still and focus my attention on You. You are God who answers prayer. I wait for You. Come to me Father, hear now my prayer, which I pray in Jesus’ holy name. Amen.

Oh Lord, whatever I endeavor to do, let me not focus on the end, but rather let me focus on You working in the process. You know my thoughts, and You know when I am about to act. Make my faith steadfast in every step I take, staying aware that You are in control and working to bless me. Let me not attempt to handle my troubles without You. For then I surely will not be blessed. Make me ask before I act, “Does it please the Lord?” Cause me to follow Your will in difficult times, rather than my emotions; and sustain me through the strain of adversity. Remove the hurt from my heart, and remind me that You called me to love those who offend me and to forgive all transgression. Lead me in the way of righteousness. May my faith cause me to persevere, that it may bring glory to You. It is You that I serve and love. Amen.

47

My Father God, I am a person born into this world with a nature that is sinful, selfish, and perverse. I am weak, impulsive and fall into temptations. My pride makes me judgmental of other people, and unwilling to admit my faults. My spirit is eager and willing to please You, but my flesh is weak (Matthew 26:41). I loathe what I am apart from You. Yet, by Your will and grace You called me to Yourself through Jesus Christ. Though I stumble in my flesh, You are yet gracious in that You pick me up and place me back on solid ground again and again. Your unfailing love and mercy abide with me forever. My gratitude for You has no bounds, and my whole heart belongs to You. Amen.

48

Merciful Father, You will not allow my sin to stand in the way of Your love for me. Nothing can separate me from Your love (Romans 8:1, 38-39). My crimes against You are many, more than I can count. But You have erased them all through Your compassion and grace, which was manifested and accomplished on the cross, by Jesus Christ, who suffered and died on account of all my transgressions. With that knowledge, how can I possibly intentionally transgress against You ever again? You saved me by Your grace and You keep me by Your grace. You put Your Holy Spirit in my heart. Your Spirit in me is my security. My response is that I love You, and I am committed to actively follow and obey my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.

49

O Father, when I transgress, I am heart broken. My spirit becomes disjointed and anguished. My heart cannot hide from the conviction of Your Holy Spirit. You refuse to leave me to myself. I am forever thankful for Your mercy and grace! Amen.

50

Father God, Without You there is a void in me that is desperate to be filled, and to Your glory, nothing can fill it other than the knowledge of Jesus Christ and His atonement! He alone makes me complete. Amen.

51

My heavenly Father, I heard Your voice in the Gospel many years ago for the first time. It spoke to me then and mightily grabbed me. And it still speaks to me today. It was and still is the sweetest sound I ever heard. It captured my heart and by its power I know that You love me and are true. I never tire of hearing Your voice in the Gospel. It is living and active and continues to change me. When I contemplate Jesus Christ, I see You (2 Corinthians 4:6). You have given me my faith, and my life now belongs to You. By Your grace I live in the newness of life; a gift of inestimable and eternal value from You to me! I know that I am held safe in Your hands. This world cannot shake me. Your voice in the Gospel continually motivates me to serve You. I never tire of hearing its sound. It moves me to love You more and more. And by the regenerated life it gave me I live to serve and glorify You forever! Amen.

52

O heavenly Father, life can be oppressive. I sometimes feel harassed by it. It demands my attention and energy to stay alive. My daily routine becomes wearisome. Life brings disappointments, problems, and unwanted feelings. It is difficult and sometimes I feel it drain my energy. It gives way to feelings of doubt, and emptiness inside of me. It raises in me a desire to soothe my discomfort. A need to blunt the pain life brings. Is this a precursor to temptation? Is it a slippery slope for me? Let it not be, for temptation torments my soul! How I hate it! Because of Your mercy and grace, I recognize what this oppression truly is. These feelings of oppression come from living my life in a world where I do not belong. A world that has rejected You. A world that has robbed me of my freedom. A freedom I never knew I had until I met Jesus Christ. This world is broken, blind, and enslaved to sin. A place where evil dominates. A world You have subjected to frustration (Romans 8:20). If I lived my life without You the oppression would doom me, therefore I put my faith in You; the faith You graciously gave me. And yet, my heart is still troubled. Life persists with its attacks, and my temptation wants to surface. These attacks make life seem unfair, as though I have no chance to be right in Your eyes; and I feel like I have no control. I fear the slippery slope. I feel the old bondage begin to wrap itself around me once again. I feel spiritually feeble. I become discouraged. It seems life in this world is against me. Oh, how I desperately need a Savior! I thank You Father God, that even though the world is in darkness, You have put hope in my heart. That hope is the light of Your Son, Jesus Christ, He and He alone is my Savior. He is my redeemer. His life and light in me flush out the oppression. His light has restored my freedom, the freedom You always meant me to have. All that I suffer now, I suffer joyously that living out my life I may bring glory to my Savior. Having died for me, on the cross, I dedicate myself to following Him. My testimony to the world is that Jesus Christ lives in me and is my living hope. I wait on You my faithful Father, until that day when You bring me home to be with my Savior in glory. Amen.

53

My heavenly Father, the best moments in my life are when I am praying to You! Prayer is the touching point, the place where my faith comes face to face with You. Nothing in the world is without defect. Only You are perfect, and so is Your love! You draw me to Yourself with a passion that I cannot resist. When I am with You in prayer the world fades away from me and there is no disturbance in my soul or body. Your peace embraces me and I am in love with You. If the world thinks I am a fool because of my faith, I will rejoice and suffer the reproach. I will not abandon my faith in You. Keep me as Your active and loyal servant. You are faithful forever to restore my heart to be in perfect peace with You. Amen.

54

Lord, You are glorious and my soul lights up just at the thought of You. Invigorate me with Your love. Take me captive into Yourself. Fill me with the awareness of Your presence. Without You there is no meaning to my life. I have fullness of joy in Your presence. I am at peace when my heart is with You. My soul rejoices in You forever. Amen.

55

My Father, I pray so that I can be with You. My greatest desire is to be with You, and prayer satisfies that desire. I know that I can ask You for help with problems, but what I long for most in prayer is to be with You— to sense Your holy presence. When I seek You in prayer You speak to my heart. Sometimes You speak in a way that my heart does not understand, yet it most certainly is aware of Your voice. I sense Your silent and gentle whisper (1 Kings 19:12) touching my heart. You teach me, You instruct me. You answer my questions. My time alone with You makes me know You more and love You more. You nurture my relationship with You. You grow my faith. You are transforming me into the likeness of Jesus Christ, my Lord. You lovingly bless me whenever I am with You in prayer. You make my heart glad with joy (Psalm 21:6). You give me many reasons to love and adore You forever. Amen.

56

Father God, I hold still that I may pray a wordless prayer to You. I invoke You in silence. Why do I hold still and keep my mind quiet before I attempt to utter a word to You? Why do I hesitate to speak? Why does my heart search for You without any concern of what I want to say? I hold still and wait for You. Father, You bless where there are no words. In my stillness You touch me with Your presence. You pull me into Yourself with the faith You created within me. In the quiet stillness of these moments, even before I open my mouth, I sense You with me. You put my body, soul, and spirit in blissful ease. I have not asked You for this, and yet You bless me with this. I am painfully attracted to You, and these moments are heaven on earth for me. I am thankful beyond measure because of You. And then Father, the first words that come out of my mouth are, "I love You." I say them repeatedly because You have filled me with Your joy as I sense my union with You (Colossians 1:27). All of this You have given to me through faith in Jesus Christ, so that my heart sings Your praises now and forever. Amen.

57

My faithful Father, I suspect that as I grow older hardships will come. Some of them will be very difficult for me to face, and to accept. Without You I would face those difficult times alone and my soul would be in anguish. I would be wounded by despair. Yet I will not fret because the love of Jesus Christ is in my heart. His love makes me more than a conqueror over any unwanted circumstances this dark world throws at me. I know I shall not walk through those dark valleys alone, for the Lover of my soul is with me. The dark clouds in my heart will evaporate by the power of His redemptive love, and His great and precious promises will sustain me. He fills me with hope, which this world cannot defeat. No matter what my circumstance is, my life is still hidden with Jesus Christ in You (Colossians 3:3). His joy shall not depart from my heart. He provides me with more than enough reasons to rejoice, therefore, I will not anguish or despair. My righteous Father, thank You for this assurance, which is in Your Son, Jesus Christ. I will rejoice in Him always. Amen.

58

Holy Father, You are the author of life and redemption. I close my eyes, I hold still, and I focus my attention on my soul held within this biological shell, the body You made to house it. This shell is temporary and will return to the dust of the earth from which it came. The years click away with ever increasing speed. And still my soul is tender and vulnerable. Without You it is dead. On that day, which You have appointed for me, this shell will surely die. Then what? Where will my soul fly to? Will I retain my self-awareness? My soul does not fret its departure, for You have unlocked the meaning of life to me. In Your great mercy You have given me new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead (1 Peter 1:3). Now my eyes see the world differently. In everything I see in it, I now understand the truth about it, through the knowledge of Jesus Christ. You have filled my heart with Your wisdom. Without You there is no understanding. No human intelligence can stand before Your judgment. In that day, my soul will return to You, I will be with You in Your kingdom, and face to face with You, I will be all that You have willed me to be. Thank You for redeeming me from the bondage of sin and death, and translating me into the eternal Kingdom of Your Son. Amen.

59

Oh Father God, when I contemplate Your existence, Your transcendent nature, my soul feels infinitesimally small. My life seems but a mere particle of dust. How can You possibly notice something so small? Why would You pay attention to me? There is no limit to Your size and power. I cannot fathom Your transcendent being. My mind lacks the capacity to grasp Your eternal nature. Apart from Your revelation You are unknowable and unsearchable. When I consider the billions of people in the world, I wonder how is it that You are mindful of me? That You notice me? You are not like a man who has a limited choice to where he puts his attention in any given moment. Un like mortal man there is no limit to Your consciousness. You are aware of everything and everyone. Nothing escapes Your attention, not even me. You are the very substance of love, and by Your love You saw me before I was born (Psalm 139:16), and called me to Yourself through Jesus Christ. Such knowledge is too high for me, it boggles my mind. In Your Son, Jesus Christ, You know me and You see me. He brings us together. My faith in Him establishes my trust in You. Oh Father, how merciful, how gracious, how compassionate and loving You are! You are God who reveals Himself. You are fully manifested in Your Son, Jesus Christ. You are intimately aware of me. My soul clings to You forever. Amen.

60

My heavenly Father, You see me constantly. You see everything I do or think. Your eye is on me always. Nothing I do or think is hidden from You. When I trim my finger nails, You see me doing that. If I smirk You see it. When I laugh, You hear it. You see how I treat other people, and You see how they treat me. In every moment of my life nothing escapes your awareness. My life unfolds before You like a movie. There is no privacy from You. You see it all. If I fear the lack of privacy from You, then I am dying. But, by the power of Jesus’ love working in me, You have changed me. I now embrace my lack of privacy before You. Such acceptance liberates my soul. It ushers me into intimacy with You. My soul longs for this intimacy. I trust you to know everything about me. It is impossible to keep anything secret from You. And my heart is glad about that, because You are the keeper of my soul. Cause me to stay aware that You are watching me all the time, not to judge me, but because You love me. You are God who sees me. Amen.
